We Shall Not Be Shaken

Matt Redman’s songs are sung in congregations every Sunday across the world, with songs such as ‘Blessed Be Your Name’, ‘Facedown’, ‘Never Let Go’ and more recently ‘You Alone Can Rescue’ amongst many others.

This September sees the release of Matt’s brand new studio album ‘We Shall Not Be Shaken’ produced by Robert Marvin who produced Matt’s previous album ‘Beautiful News’. The new album features co-writes with Jonas Myrin (Hillsongs) and is a collection of congregational songs that will inspire the local church across the world.

Matt now resides in Atlanta USA where he is part of the Passion Church plant alongside Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin. This year Matt received ASCAP Awards for Christian songwriter of the year and for the most played songs on Christian radio in the USA for ‘Blessed Be Your Name’ and ‘Never Let Go’.

"This album praises God's steadiness," Matt says. "We're being reminded how shakable earthly things are: job losses, home foreclosures. When we traveled to Korea, there were high profile suicides due to the failing marketplace. So it feels appropriate now to address the economy in a worship song. Nothing in the Psalms was ever detached from its era." We Shall Not Be Shaken is intentionally Psalm-like, using simple poetic lyrics to express unbreakable truth in an age of utter brokenness.

'You Alone Can Rescue' - Story Behind The Song

"This is a simple song of salvation, co-written with Jonas Myrin. He's a very melodic writer and this song began backstage at a conference when he brought me the beginnings of the chorus tune. We wrote the chorus first and then spent several months pulling the rest of the song together. In the end we decided that verse one needed to ask the question the chorus then answers. So, "Who o Lord, could save themselves, their own soul could heal?" is answered by "You alone can rescue, You alone can save." I've had the privilege of leading this song in 18 different countries already, and I'm glad we've finally got round to recording it!"
