Bio
Over the past 10 years Psalm Drummers has developed into an International Movement which sees drummers gathering together to worship God. Psalm Drummers is a network of Christian drummers and percussionists that serve the church and the drumming community by hosting events, workshops and offering inspirational teaching resources. Their core values are rooted in the Christian Faith and God’s Word, the Bible.
The Psalm Drummer vision is to stir up prayer, praise and worship and lead people to Christ through drumming. It is a call to drummers everywhere to drum out a new beat that carries the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit. Psalm Drummers encourage a life lived in time with the heartbeat of God, and in the worship of Jesus Christ.
“I believe God is restoring the drum to the Church (in praise and worship and more) and is calling drummers, both individually and corporately, to drum out a new beat - a beat that carries the heart and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The purpose is to declare His presence. I have seen drumming to be a powerful voice for prayer and praise: it can unify the divided, encourage the disheartened, and stir up much needed courage within the Church in our times.” - Terl Bryant
Terl Bryant, Founder and Director, oversees the work, along with Ken Murray (Heart2Drum Event Mgr / Drummer), Mark Jones (Logistics / Percussionist), Mike Simpson (Workshops and performance teams / group drum facilitator), Matt Collison (team support / drummer) and Nathan Evans (booking agent / drummer).
A wider network of Psalm Drumming friends support the vision but Psalm Drummers is not an exclusive grouping of drummers, there are many different gatherings of Christians who use drums. They have close links and recognise a partnership of heart and values with Drummers for Jesus (based in the Dallas area, USA).
Following on from the success of the Psalm Drummers debut album which was released on Survivor in 2004, comes the latest album ‘Rhythms Of Fire’. Founder Terl Bryant (who has played with IONA, Matt Redman and John Paul Jones) has gathered guests such as Tim Hughes, Archbishop John Sentamu, Noel Robinson, Bazil Meade and Mal Pope to sing and pray over tracks recorded in different nations. One track is called Mumbai Joy, which was recorded in India while on tour with Matt Redman. This cross cultural collection displays indigenous rhythms with great melodies. The sound is original and organic
